FAQ
Questions Are Good.
Cybersecurity Shouldn’t Be Confusing.
Here are some of the most common questions businesses ask about PC Vax.
PC Vax Basics
What Is PC Vax?
PC Vax is a professionally managed endpoint cybersecurity service for businesses. It combines Huntress-powered endpoint-security technology, 24/7 security monitoring, professional threat investigation, managed response, and PC Vax operational support.
Is PC Vax Antivirus?
PC Vax includes endpoint protection, but it is much more than traditional antivirus. PC Vax adds managed EDR, continuous monitoring, professional investigation, response capabilities, and PC Vax management and follow-through.
What Is EDR?
EDR stands for Endpoint Detection & Response. Traditional antivirus often focuses heavily on identifying known malicious files. EDR also looks at activity and behavior occurring on the computer, helping identify suspicious actions that may not match a traditional antivirus signature. PC Vax provides managed EDR as part of the service.
What Operating Systems and Devices Does PC Vax Support?
PC Vax supports Windows, macOS, and Linux — desktops, laptops, and servers. Every device is priced at the same per-device rate, with no extra charge for servers. Specific capabilities can vary by operating system.
Who Is PC Vax Designed For?
PC Vax is primarily designed for small businesses, independent professionals, growing companies, businesses with existing IT, and companies preparing for cyber insurance. You do not need to purchase full Managed IT to use PC Vax.
Monitoring & Response
Is PC Vax Monitored 24/7?
Yes. PC Vax uses Huntress cybersecurity and security-operations capabilities to provide continuous endpoint monitoring backed by professional security analysis. General PC Vax customer support hours may differ from the underlying 24/7 security-monitoring coverage.
Who Watches the Alerts?
The underlying Huntress security-operations layer helps investigate suspicious activity. PC Vax manages the customer relationship and follows through on required technical or customer actions.
What Happens If Malware Is Detected?
Depending on the incident: malicious activity may be stopped, files may be remediated, a process may be terminated, the endpoint may be isolated, additional remediation may be required, and PC Vax may contact you. PC Vax reviews incidents and makes sure required follow-up is completed.
Can PC Vax Isolate My Computer?
Yes, where supported and appropriate. An affected computer may be temporarily isolated during a serious incident to help prevent malicious activity from spreading or communicating with other systems.
Will You Contact Me Every Time Something Is Blocked?
Not necessarily. Routine activity that is automatically handled may not require customer involvement. PC Vax generally contacts customers when action is needed, a significant incident occurs, a device is isolated, credentials may be affected, or additional remediation is required.
Huntress
Does PC Vax Use Huntress?
Yes. Huntress is an important cybersecurity technology and security-operations platform behind PC Vax.
Is PC Vax Just Huntress?
No. Huntress provides important underlying technology and security capabilities. PC Vax provides the managed service around it, including deployment, endpoint administration, customer support, incident follow-through, additional remediation, Patch Management, reporting, and security guidance.
Why Don't I Just Buy Huntress Myself?
PC Vax is designed to provide the managed relationship around the security technology. You don't have to administer the platform, manage endpoint organizations, handle security escalations, interpret incidents, or build your own operational workflows. PC Vax handles that managed-service layer.
Pricing
How Much Does PC Vax Cost?
Annual pricing begins at $19 per device per month. Volume discounts apply. Month-to-month options are also available.
Is There a Minimum?
PC Vax is designed to accommodate very small businesses as well as larger endpoint environments. Any applicable minimums should be confirmed during activation.
Can I Add Computers Later?
Yes. PC Vax can grow with your business.
What Happens If I Replace a Computer?
The old computer is properly removed from the managed environment and PC Vax is installed and verified on the replacement.
Patch Management
What Is Managed Patch Management?
Managed Patch Management helps keep supported operating systems and applications updated while monitoring patch status across protected endpoints.
Why Do I Need Patching If I Already Have EDR?
They address different risks. EDR helps detect suspicious and malicious activity. Patch Management helps reduce known vulnerabilities attackers may exploit. The two work together.
Is Patch Management Required?
It is an optional service, although PC Vax recommends it for most business customers.
Cyber Insurance
Will PC Vax Make Us Cyber Insurance Compliant?
There is no universal cyber-insurance compliance standard. Every carrier, policy, and applicant may have different requirements. PC Vax can help establish and document relevant endpoint-security controls but does not guarantee policy approval or eligibility.
Can PC Vax Help With an Insurance Questionnaire?
Yes. PC Vax can help explain and document controls related to its service and identify other areas that may need additional review.
Does PC Vax Sell Cyber Insurance?
Not as part of the current PC Vax cybersecurity service. Axio may explore future cyber-insurance capabilities, subject to appropriate licensing and regulatory requirements.
IT Support
Does PC Vax Replace My IT Provider?
No. PC Vax can work alongside your existing IT provider.
Does PC Vax Include General Computer Support?
No. Standard PC Vax service focuses on endpoint cybersecurity. General support such as printers, Microsoft Office, networking, applications, user training, and general Windows issues is outside the standard service.
What If I Need Full Managed IT?
The broader Axio ecosystem includes Managed IT capabilities through Axio Networks. PC Vax can help determine whether broader IT services make sense.
Security Guarantees
Can PC Vax Guarantee We Won't Get Hacked?
No. No responsible cybersecurity provider can guarantee that every possible attack will be prevented. PC Vax is designed to reduce risk, improve detection, help contain threats, and improve security response.
